Good to know
Clean dirt (no trash, roots or contamination) is usually accepted as inert material and priced by weight or load.
Some landfills accept clean soil at a reduced rate or for free because they use it as daily cover. Others don't take dirt at all, so check the facility before loading a trailer.
Other ways
- Free fill listings. Clean fill dirt is often wanted by neighbors and contractors; online "free fill" listings can save the trip.
