Flat-screen, tube (CRT) and projection televisions. 3 places accept it in Southern California.

Good to know

Televisions are covered electronic waste in California and cannot be thrown away. Approved e-waste collectors and HHW facilities accept them, usually at no charge for residents.

Old tube (CRT) televisions are heavy and contain leaded glass; bring help to unload.

Electronic waste cannot go in California trash. Approved collectors and HHW facilities accept computers, monitors and small electronics from residents, usually free.

Wipe or remove hard drives before recycling a computer if the data matters to you.

Other ways

• Retail take-back. Some electronics retailers accept TVs for recycling, sometimes with size limits or a fee.
