Good to know
Furniture is accepted as regular bulky waste at landfills and transfer stations and is normally charged by weight or by the load.
Usable furniture can often be donated; many charities will pick up larger pieces.
Other ways
- Bulky-item pickup. Check whether your trash hauler includes free bulky-item collection.
- Donation. Thrift stores and charities accept furniture in good condition, some with free pickup.
- Junk removal. Junk-removal services are the simplest option for a whole house of furniture.
Don't bother
These do not take furniture: Palm Springs Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility, Anaheim Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center, Irvine Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
